Definitions
The Graduating Senior Survey is a locally developed survey administered every three years to those seniors planning on graduating during the current academic year. The item "Which of the following different types of faculty-student mentoring experiences have you had during the past two years at NC State: Worked on an extension or public service project with a faculty member outside of course or program requirements" is asked of all participants.

Definitions
The Collaborative on Academic Careers in Higher Education (COACHE) Survey is a national survey in which NC State participates every three years. All full-time tenure track and professional track faculty are invited to participate in the survey. The item "How satisfied are you with the recognition you receive for your: Outreach (e.g., extension, community engagement, technology transfer, economic development, K-12 education)" was asked of all participants. Those selecting the "Decline to answer" or "Not applicable" response options are excluded from the analysis.
